What is SEO?

SEO stands for "search engine optimization." SEO is the process of improving your site to increase its visibility when people search for products or services related to your business in Google, Bing and other search engines. The better you are ranked on a page by these websites' algorithms, then the more likely potential customers will be drawn towards what you offer - which means that with good SEO strategies, small businesses can reach larger audiences than ever before!

The key difference between SEO and paid advertising is that SEO involves "organic" ranking. Organic ranking means you can rank yourself in search engine results without paying to be there. This SEO process means taking online content and optimizing it so that Google shows your site towards the top when someone searches for something relevant without paying a cent.

How does SEO work?

A crawler is an automated program that searches the internet for websites, following internal links to other pages and external ones on different sites. This helps search engines understand each page in their massive database by getting additional context through these various hops along its journey. It also understands how those pages are semantically connected and outside sources like images or videos if they exist within a particular domain's content feed (i.e., YouTube).

When a person searches or voice search a query, The search engine pulls out what it believes to be the most accurate and useful list of results for a query. These organic results could include web pages full of text, news articles, images or videos on topics relevant to the search.

Google and other internet search engines use a number of different factors to determine where your website will show up in its rankings. These factors are constantly evolving to keep up with changing user behaviour and advances in machine learning.

Types of SEO

On-page SEO

At its core, on-page SEO is all about the copy on your web pages that help you rank. On-page SEO is about building content to improve your website's organic ranking. This can be achieved by incorporating keywords into your pages and content, writing high-quality content regularly, making sure your metatags and titles are keyword-rich and well-written, along with other factors.

Off-page SEO

Off-page SEO is the optimization happening off of your website itself, such as earning backlinks. This part of the equation involves building relationships and creating content people want to share. Though it takes a lot of legwork, it's integral to SEO success.

The biggest component of Off-Page SEO would be backlinks. This is where external websites, which are relevant to your business and have a good Page Authority, put a link on their site, which leads back to you. Through this process, Google transfers some of their Page Authority to your website, hence raising your Google's ranking.

Technical SEO

Technical SEO are actions performed to help search engines crawl your website and enhance user experience. Technical SEO can include reducing the image file size on your site, so your webpage loads faster. It also includes optimizing your website for mobile use. As search engines and their algorithms become more complex, these requirements change which means that this type of SEO is always evolving.

More than just keywords

You must remember that SEO is more than just finding the right words and using them. While high-quality content is a top priority, there are many more factors behind that number 1 spot you need to consider. It is only with a comprehensive combination of all three kinds of SEO that you will see positive results in the SEO game.
